My girlfriends and I went on a spontaneous trip to NYC on Memorial weekend. I booked this cute apartment on AirBnB perfectly situation in the upper eastside. From the pictures on AirBnB, the stairs in front of the buildings reminded me so much of the intro to Laverne & Shirley. I love that song – “Making Dreams Come True”. I couldn’t help myself, I just had to make my first YouTube video with Laverne & Shirley theme song covered by yours truly. Check out it out and please comment or subscribe or both! And then check out some of my favorite places in NYC below to get ideas for your next trip to NYC!
Things we did:
Silent Disco @ South Street Seaport – I never knew dancing with headphones with a bunch of strangers with their headphones can be such a fun experience. I seem to concentrate more on my own awesome moves than people watching which is what I seem to do at clubs. It was great, you have to try it at least once. (TIP: Check out Soundoffexperience.com for silent disco events near you!)
The Met Roof Garden Café – First of all, the Metropolitan Museum is an absolute art filled destination that you should spend at least a couple of hours exploring. However, our only goal was to go straight to the Rooftop Garden Café because we wanted to see the view. (TIP: The Museum that day only asked for us to donate as much as we want to get in. I gave $12, normal entry fee is $25. And the rooftop Café was not as grand as the pictures I saw on their website. A bit disappointing. The view wasn’t bad:
230 Fifth for Rooftop Brunch – Ok, you guys have to go here. Corner of 27th and 5th. The food is ok, but the view…oh em gee! It was a beautiful sunny day so the skies were clear and skyline was breathtaking. I could probably stay there for hours but it was quite hot that day. I simply couldn’t get enough of their ice coffee. So yummy on a hot day. BUT, it was hot under the umbrella…so maybe that helped with the taste? Let me know what you think if you try it.
Off Broadway – You can’t go to New York City and not see a Broadway show. This time, we tried an Off Broadway show called Disenchanted. It was only $40/person, a bargain compared to the Broadway show prices! I have a special place in my heart for Disney movies so this was an easy choice. And it was a good choice. I swear…I think I can take one of the star’s place…what do you think?
Obviously we went barhopping on the last night…WEE!!! Overall, it was a great trip. I got to know my 2 girlfriends PRETTY WELL. LOL. Until next time girls!
